Recognise persistence after a boundary

Look at how someone responds to your choice, rather than trying to diagnose their character.

The idea

Someone repeatedly pressing after a clear refusal gives you useful information about the interaction. A friendly manner does not erase pressure.

Try a low-pressure example

Imagine declining an invitation. The other person keeps demanding reasons. Consider three options: repeating your answer, ending the conversation or seeking support. You do not owe a persuasive explanation.

Keep the context in view

A boundary is not a test you must pass. In a controlling relationship, direct confrontation may carry risks. Specialist support can help you consider options that fit your situation.

Keep the responsibility clear. These options cannot guarantee safety. Responsibility for violence belongs to the perpetrator. Choose what fits your circumstances.
