Words are one option

In a public interaction that feels uncomfortable, consider whether you can move toward staff, other people or an exit. You can end a conversation without persuading the other person that your reason is acceptable.

An original scenario

A person you do not want to talk to keeps following your conversation. What assistance is available? Could you speak to staff rather than continue debating? Imagine an alternative if your usual exit is unavailable.

Important context

This public-setting exercise is not a plan for leaving an abusive partner. Relationship safety planning needs individual consideration and specialist support.

Keep the responsibility clear. These options cannot guarantee safety. Responsibility for violence belongs to the perpetrator. Choose what fits your circumstances.
