If you are helping someone

Listen without questioning why they did not act differently. Ask what they would find useful. Offer help finding specialist services, while respecting their choices and explaining any obligations you have.

Explore options

Health, practical and specialist support may all be relevant. A local service can explain available pathways without this lesson prescribing one route for everyone.

Keep the responsibility clear. These options cannot guarantee safety. Responsibility for violence belongs to the perpetrator. Choose what fits your circumstances.
